Terrific Turkey Recipe

Ingredients:
1 whole turkey
1 large lemon, cut into halves
salt and pepper to taste
butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer

Heat oven to 350 degrees

Rub butter or oil over the skin of the turkey until it is completely coated.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you prefer.

Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat;
Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up, one on
each side. This way the juice from the lemon will release into the breasts.

Cover and bake for 30-45 minutes. Remove cover and continue
to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes.
If you've followed these steps correctly, your turkey should
look like the one in the picture.

Bon Appetit!

back soon

Have had company since last Wed - have had a wonderful birthday week. Went blonde/plantinum/silver/gray/weird the day before my birthday. Decided to work with the silver and gray rather than against it, so got the back to match the top and front. Let's put it this way...everyone on the floor was coming over to ask my stylist what she was doing, and they all had to run their fingers through my hair, so it doesn't look bad. Just different. *grin* Will post a photo later this week.

Today we're all getting pedicures - daughter-in-law, me, and her mom (her mom is treating us). After that and a frap, we'll probably crash and burn or go shopping and then crash. Amy leaves for Oklahoma tomorrow, so we'll be getting in all the last minute gabbing and shopping that we can squeeze into the next few hours.

Hope you've all had a marvelous time since we last chatted. THANK YOU to all of you for the birthday wishes last week - Liz, Lex, Heather Rae - the MARA members - Kate - ALL of you.

love & talk soon...
Sunny Lyn

Sunny,

Sorry I missed your b-day, girl! I was out of town at my mom's. She fell, lots of stitches, big mess. So glad she's okay :)

Can't wait to see your hair! Sure I'm gonna love it.

Happy Late Birthday!!!

Repoed Pets, Flu, Fall, & Writing

Harley basically got repoed. We took a walk a weekend or so ago, and his owners happened to see us. They described the collar he'd had on him when we found him, and they had 4 crying kids at home who missed their pet. Wasn't like we'd keep him, but we were still quite sad to see him go.

Woke up one morning to a lake of leaves. The trees that had been so lovely were bare, stripped by winds and frost, and so goes the neighborhood. I still like the changing seasons, though. Winter's always a good month for me as far as writing, and I look forward every year of hibernating with the laptop or desktop, drinking hot chocolate or a fantastic herbal tea, and baring my soul through stories. There's something totally inappropriate there, I'm sure, but it's that freeing, like running naked through a forest without fear of brambles. Those come in spring when crit partners or editors get hold of the work.

Am over the flu - whoo-hoo - lol. ACK, but that was a horrid three weeks.
*
Heather Rae sent me something that had me laughing every time I thought of it, so I'll share. Have you ever thought of how the work week begins with Monday (M), Tuesday (T), and ends with WTF?
*
All for now.
Hugs,
Sunny Lyn
