Shout-Out to THE CAVE

Many of the bats from THE CAVE that I've hung out with could be found at a writers' conference in Reno, July of 2005. I won't name names, but I gotta tell ya'll that I had a blast meeting these folks!
...and I'm about to chat up a few of them...
The writers' workshop I'm teaching this month has been a lot of fun so far. One of the reasons is due to a group of batty writers. My thanks today to the following authors and members of The Cave who have either donated books, spoken in chat with my group, or judged a contest for the group this week. (And there are MORE bats with books that I'll be blogging about a few days from now!)

<~~ THANK YOU, GOO!!!!! I can't wait to meet YOU in person!
(Is that a gorgeous smile, folks, or WHAT?! She just looks like someone I'd like to hang out with.)

“The Importance of Almack’s” by Denise Patrick
Genre: Historical Romance
ISBN: 1-59998-518-7
Length: Novel
Price: 5.50
Publication Date: July 3, 2007

Banished and disowned for saving a stranger's life. . .

In Regency England, lineage and vouchers to Almack’s are everything, but Pamela Clarkdale has neither. After her father casts her out, she considers herself fortunate to have obtained a position as a companion to an elderly widow.

Kitt Covington has sworn off Almack’s and marriage. Why attend one when he has no interest in the other? Guilt, however, is a powerful motivator. Knowing he caused Pamela to be thrown out of her home, he proposes a sham betrothal between them to ease his conscience.

Kitt’s offer is tempting and Pamela agrees, with the caveat that the betrothal will disappear at the end of the season. But not only is Pamela refused vouchers to Almack’s, her family is scheming to destroy her to protect a secret she doesn’t realize she knows. When the twenty-year-old web of lies and deceit begins to unravel, will Pamela and Kitt discover that Almack’s isn’t really that important after all?
Irina Petrova, a member of Czarist Russia's royal family, is stuck in Southeast Alaska, and wants to return to the extravagance of the court. Until her father imprisons the one man that captures her heart.

Nathan Hawkins was making a career for himself as a ships’ captain and owner. A foray into Alaska to trade for furs would be the perfect money making expedition. Being captured by the Russians was the least of his worries when he fell in love with Lady Irina.

Can he overcome the difference in their social classes to feel worthy of her? Will she go against the edicts of the Czar to be with him?
Ecata Romance calls this book a keeper!
Lady Irina is Josh Lockwood's first novel and what a promising novel is it. With Alaska as the backdrop, he provides us with a fascinating look at life during that time. In addition we get to experience wedding traditions that are fun to see. Irina and Nathan experienced that rare thing of love at first sight.

A Romance Review has this to say about Ms. Allison: The tension in the story rises with each chapter and there are so many surprises in store to leave the reader gasping for more. Just when the reader thinks that they might be nearing a solution the plot takes another twist!...Meg Allison is a very good author and this book from her will have the reader wanting more of her novels. She is a major talent.
