Today's History Lesson - courtesy of Janet

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals

2. Conservatives

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as "girlie men".

Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals were symbolized by the jackass.

Modern liberals like light beer (sometimes with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals also invented the designated hitter rule because it was not fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives tend to drink micro brew beer. They also eat red meat and still provide for their women and families.

Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today's lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it. A Conservative will simply laugh and forward immediately just for the heck of it. (They also may not 'get it', which is why they'd forward such a thing.)

Now, you decide. Are the following folks Liberals or Conservatives? - LOL

And I'll close with a good housekeeping tip for both Libs and Cons:

If you sometimes get the sudden urge to run around naked, drink some Windex. It will keep you from streaking. Have a Great Day!

The Next Workshop

Seems I've been asked to teach another writers' workshop or two, so for those who have asked, here are the ones I have scheduled and the ones that are in the works. I'm hooked on working with the Heart of Dixie, so they're my 'backers', if you will, on at least these three workshops...plus there's a fourth through another group.

The one workshop on writing erotic romance is scheduled for September or October of 2008, so that one is pretty far away, and I'll give info sometime next year on that one.

The earliest one that I'll be teaching with Heart of Dixie moderating will 'probably' be on writing family history books. History is one of my minors, and family histories are a passion of mine - love 'em. I'll ask for a page of information about two or three weeks ahead of class (which will most likely be end of February) from students so that they can have the personal information that they need. Then we'll work on putting together layouts and getting things set up so that the books read like bestseller fiction rather than dry as bones bits of personal information. History is fascinating, and having it laced throughout our own backgrounds can make for interesting reading.

The next workshop may be geared for advanced writers who are "almost there" with their fiction, writers who get rejection letters and just need that extra polish in order to sell.

13 Ways...You Know You're A Redneck When...

Thirteen Things about Rednecks

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A REDNECK WHEN
1. You can entertain yourself for more than an hour with a flyswatter.
2. Your property has been mistaken for a recycling center.
3. You burn your yard rather than mow it
4. You offer to give someone the shirt off your back and they don't want it.
5. You have the local taxidermist on speed dial.
6. You think a subdivision is part of a math problem.
7. You think a hot tub is a stolen indoor plumbing fixture.
8. You took a fishing pole to Sea World.
9. You thought the Unabomber was a wrestler.
10. You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say Cool Whip on the side.
11. You've ever stared at a can of orange juice because it said concentrate.
12. You think fast food is hitting a deer at 65mph.
13. You think a quarter horse is that ride in front of K-Mart.

Thirteen Things That I’ve Learned This Summer

Thirteen Things That I’ve Learned This Summer

1. Gazebos tend to blow over during high winds. Mine has blown over twice since Father’s Day. The frame will most likely be set up (and staked to the ground this time) at the far edge of our back yard where it will become a multiple trellis next spring to hold tomato plants, green beans, cucumbers, and gourds. Of course, I take no responsibility for any fat birds or squirrels who decide to take up residence on it.

2. I have some extremely talented critique partners. One CP, Sara Hantz, has written a delightful YA novel, and I can’t WAIT to dig into this. It debuts next month!

The Second Virginity of Suzy Green by Sara Hantz

Genre: Young Adult
Paperback: 258 pages
Publisher: Flux (September 1, 2007)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 073871139X
ISBN-13: 978-0738711393

Suzy Green used to be one of the coolest nonconformist “almost-Goth” party girls in Australia. That was before her older sister Rosie died and her family moved to a new town. Not even her best friend would recognize her now. Gone are the Doc Martens and the attitude. All she wants is to be like Rosie—perfect. The new Suzy Green makes straight As, hangs with the in-crowd at her new school, and dates the hottest guy around. And since all her new friends belong to a virginity club, she joins, too. So what if she’s not technically qualified?

Nobody in town knows . . . until Ryan, Suzy’s ex, turns up.

As the past and present collide, Suzy struggles to find her own place in a world without her sister.

Read an excerpt on http://www.sarahantz.com/
Buy the book at: amazon.com, Barnes & Noble bookstores, Borders Books

Sara Hantz started writing when she ran out of degrees to study and decided it was much more fun to make things up than to comment on dry academics. Born in England, she moved to New Zealand a few years ago. The Second Virginity of Suzy Green is Sara's first novel.

3. The best way to pit a peach is to cut along the ‘seam’ to the pit all the way around the fruit – then twist the halves in opposite directions.

4. Teaching is good for the soul. I have had a blast this month working with the Heart of Dixie Romance Writers of America and the writers’ workshop attendees who took my class on writing short fiction. I will dearly miss the interaction with the likes of Marilyn, Misty, Karla, Anita (Lord, she has great recipes), Michelle, Darlene, Sheila, Ingrid, Betty, Diana, Judith G, Judith M, Karen, Kim, Mary, Mary Ellen, Suzy, Kim (the other Kim), Jeanine, Pam, Macy, Irene, Robbi (good luck with that new magazine, Mz Editor!), and the others, some of whom are lurking in the rafters (they have day jobs, kids, families, LIVES, ya know). Anyway, thanks for hanging in there with me, ladies – it’s been a blast!

5. I have some talented, wonderful, and generous fellow writer pals whose contributions to the writers’ workshop have been sooo beneficial for many of us! Michelle, Pillow, Marie Harte, Cat Marsters, Charlene Teglia, Denise Patrick, Jordanna Kay, Josh Lockwood, Kris Starr, Summer Devon, Liz Wolfe, Meg Allison, Pam Payne, Shonna Brannon, Misty Wright, Marilyn Puett, Alexis Fleming, Ann Wesley Hardin…I can’t thank you enough! And if I’ve omitted anyone (GOD FORBID), let me know, because our class was richer for your contributions.

6. I miss writing for the TRUES – lol. I do, I do – I didn’t realize it until this month during the class I’m teaching. I had a lot of fun writing for those editors.

7. Janet is as crazy as ever and is the email QUEEN – I swear, I have no clue where she gets half the stuff she sends me, but she has to be internet royalty to be able to snag all of it.

8. I miss the hell out of Merry when she’s having a Life. I’m happy Richard is home, delighted she’s getting this new house built, but I miss The Garage Sale Girls (Mer, Bev, and Becky, along with Jess and me) and our outings. Maybe this fall…

9. Tiramisu isn’t difficult to make, and it makes me feel like kissing my fingertips and shouting BRAVISIMO when I’ve done a good job making it.

10. I am a frappuccino ho. I get twitchy without iced, coffee-flavored concoctions with whipped cream. I’m also a frap’ connoisseur. In my neck of the woods, Scooter’s serves the best, followed by Starbucks and Homer’s.

11. It takes approximately eleven months after the first leaf falls here to get the last one raked and bagged.

12. Spiders are vicious, and their bites hurt…a lot. And 12 is about the number of bites I sustained during the past week before the exterminator visited today. Ugh. I had one bite from an itty bitty baby Fiddleback when I was about seventeen – a while ago – and I’d forgotten how crappy I felt afterwards. Today, I took perverse pleasure in watching spiders and ants outside our home committing suicide when the exterminator doused them.

13. Shaving a dog isn’t as difficult as I’d imagined. Dog even likes the new look. I don’t have the heart to tell her it’s a tad butchered.

You'll have to share your technique with shaving the dog... Butchered doesn't even touch what we do to our poor pooch.

ROFLMAO! This dog is Pita (and yeah - horrid of me, but that's how she got her name - she was the biggest/littlest Pain In The Ass) when I rescued her. Now she's rescued me - charmed me - etc.

She's good about standing on her back legs and stretching to let me bathe her or shave her. She'll put her paws against the shower door, etc and just stretch, waiting to be pampered. It's a hoot.

How are you? I've missed seeing you!

just for you, Ames - I'll either send it via email privately or will post to blog in a day or two. oh, crap - is tomorrow Thursday Thirteen already? I'm delinquent.

will get it to you, though...THANKS for asking. mwah!

I MISS you and Jess, too! Retirement, what's that? I'm busier now than I ever was when we both worked!

I spent the week in Houston moving Jenny and Gabe to their new apartment. Got back last night.

House is coming along fine, I'll post pictures or at least some progress reports soon!

Also - I butchered Mom's cat - a long haired white Himalayan - she was panting, it was hot, so I whacked her hair off. She looks like a lynx - all choppy, yet sleek. Mom says I'm the official cat-hair cutter now...oh, joy. This is the same cat that will attack if you walk by her chair while she's sleeping. I have the scratches on my leg to prove it.

13 Parachute Packers

Before I go any further, this explains the parachute quite well. My post today is simply to thank many of you who have packed my parachutes lately.

Thirteen Things about Sunny’s Parachute Packers

1. Janet – you won’t see a link, because she has no blog, no website, but this particular woman and I have been friends for well over a decade. She has taken me to doctor’s appointments, shared a meal or two with me, laughed at movies, and she sends me most of the jokes and cartoons that I share on my blog.
2. Merry Stahel – friend, fellow founder of The Belfry Collective, critique partner, and so much more. Mer is marvelous, and I don’t know what I ever did without her before I met her.
3. Alexis Fleming – soul sister, friend, conference buddy…there aren’t enough words to describe the joy I’ve had in knowing her.
4. Heather Rae Scott – another of my CPs who means the world to me. We have laughed, cried, dissed, and discussed everything under the sun.
5. Ronda Thompson – a mentor whose life was cut too short from cancer this summer. I will never forget her and the lessons she taught me.
6. Heart of Dixie RWA – this group has been an absolute JOY to work with this year. They’ve set up two writers’ workshops online for me, and the women in this group are phenomenal!
7. Pam Payne – Pam and I go back a ways. We’re both ‘bats’, and even though I’ve only met her in person once, in Dallas 2004, I’ve enjoyed her friendship and the knowledge she has shared with my writers’ class. I see on her blog today that she’s posted about her first fan mail – yaaaay.
8. #1 Son, aka The Kid – much of what I blog about that has anything to do with IQ’s over 80 comes from this gentleman. My friend, teacher, and son.
9. DDL2B, aka Jess – I could get into so much trouble with this little thang. She’s my frappuccino buddy, confidante, shopping partner, and laugh-a-minute friend.
10. The Belfry Collective – my first online critique group. I would NOT be here today without their input, friendship, butt-kickings and contributions.
11. Women of Wit – my second online critique group. We’re sort of a secret society of movers and shakers, meaning if we need shaking in order to move, one of us will administer the hug or nudge or shake.
12. my readers – the silent bunch in my life who sometimes writes, sometimes doesn’t, but who always makes me feel special and gives me the incentive to push forward, to write one more book, even when I don’t feel up to the challenge. Thank you for sticking with me.
13. my Oklahoma writer friends – THIS is the group who got me started, told me I could ‘do it’, encouraged me through some of the worst crap any CP has ever had to read, and they did it with smiles (usually – lol). Lord, how I miss ‘em. *waves to Rinda*

Now…to reiterate yesterday’s news: Don’t forget that NEXT FRIDAY is party day at Alexis Fleming’s new home on the web! Here’s yesterday’s write-up, and I’ll post the graphic she sent once again.

MAJOR SHOUT OUT TO THE HOD3 CLASS!!! – WHOO-HOO! You’ve made it through almost two weeks with me – lol. Only one more week to go!

Have a great day, everyone! See you next time…I still have many authors to boast and brag about who have helped with this online writers’ workshop I’m teaching.

Another favorite photo...Ann and Lex

Shout-Out to THE CAVE

Many of the bats from THE CAVE that I've hung out with could be found at a writers' conference in Reno, July of 2005. I won't name names, but I gotta tell ya'll that I had a blast meeting these folks!
...and I'm about to chat up a few of them...
The writers' workshop I'm teaching this month has been a lot of fun so far. One of the reasons is due to a group of batty writers. My thanks today to the following authors and members of The Cave who have either donated books, spoken in chat with my group, or judged a contest for the group this week. (And there are MORE bats with books that I'll be blogging about a few days from now!)

<~~ THANK YOU, GOO!!!!! I can't wait to meet YOU in person!
(Is that a gorgeous smile, folks, or WHAT?! She just looks like someone I'd like to hang out with.)

“The Importance of Almack’s” by Denise Patrick
Genre: Historical Romance
ISBN: 1-59998-518-7
Length: Novel
Price: 5.50
Publication Date: July 3, 2007
Cover art by Dawn Seewer

Banished and disowned for saving a stranger's life. . .

In Regency England, lineage and vouchers to Almack’s are everything, but Pamela Clarkdale has neither. After her father casts her out, she considers herself fortunate to have obtained a position as a companion to an elderly widow.

Kitt Covington has sworn off Almack’s and marriage. Why attend one when he has no interest in the other? Guilt, however, is a powerful motivator. Knowing he caused Pamela to be thrown out of her home, he proposes a sham betrothal between them to ease his conscience.

Kitt’s offer is tempting and Pamela agrees, with the caveat that the betrothal will disappear at the end of the season. But not only is Pamela refused vouchers to Almack’s, her family is scheming to destroy her to protect a secret she doesn’t realize she knows. When the twenty-year-old web of lies and deceit begins to unravel, will Pamela and Kitt discover that Almack’s isn’t really that important after all?
Irina Petrova, a member of Czarist Russia's royal family, is stuck in Southeast Alaska, and wants to return to the extravagance of the court. Until her father imprisons the one man that captures her heart.

Nathan Hawkins was making a career for himself as a ships’ captain and owner. A foray into Alaska to trade for furs would be the perfect money making expedition. Being captured by the Russians was the least of his worries when he fell in love with Lady Irina.

Can he overcome the difference in their social classes to feel worthy of her? Will she go against the edicts of the Czar to be with him?
Ecata Romance calls this book a keeper!
Lady Irina is Josh Lockwood's first novel and what a promising novel is it. With Alaska as the backdrop, he provides us with a fascinating look at life during that time. In addition we get to experience wedding traditions that are fun to see. Irina and Nathan experienced that rare thing of love at first sight.

Fat-ass Foucaultian ho???

I know, everybody is blogging about this *sigh* but I'm still teaching a writers' workshop and haven't been able to blog it. Here goes...

Crowd: Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!

Jerry: Today's guests are here because they can't agree on fundamental philosophical principles. I'd like to welcome Todd to the show.

Todd enters from backstage.

Jerry: Hello, Todd.

Todd: Hi, Jerry.

Jerry (reading from card): So, Todd, you're here to tell your girlfriend something. What is it?

Todd: Well, Jerry, my girlfriend Ursula and I have been going out for three years now. We did everything together. We were really inseparable. But then she discovered post-Marxist political and literary theory, and it's been nothing but fighting ever since.

Jerry: Why is that?

Todd : You see, Jerry, I'm a traditional Cartesian rationalist. I believe that the individual self, the "I" or ego is the foundation of all metaphysics. She, on the other hand, believes that the contemporary self is a socially constructed, multi-faceted subjectivity reflecting the political and economic realities of late capitalist consumerist discourse.

Crowd: Ooooohhhh!

Todd: I know! I know! Is that infantile, or what?

Jerry: So what do you want to tell her today?

Todd: I want to tell her that unless she ditches the post-modernism, we're through. I just can't go on having a relationship with a woman who doesn't believe I exist.

Jerry: Well, you're going to get your chance. Here's Ursula!

Ursula storms on stage and charges up to Todd.

Ursula: Patriarchal colonizer!

She slaps him viciously.

Todd leaps up, but the security guys pull them apart before things can go any further.

Ursula: Don't listen to him! Logic is a male hysteria! Rationality equals oppression and the silencing of marginalized voices!

Todd: The classical methodology of rational dialectic is our only road to truth! Don't try to deny it!

Ursula: You and your dialectic! That's how it's been through our whole relationship, Jerry. Mindless repetition of the post-Enlightenment meta-narrative. She mimics Todd. "You have to start with radical doubt, Ursula." She mimics Todd again. "Post-structuralism is just classical skeptical thought re-cast in the language of semiotics, Ursula."

Crowd: Booo! Booo!

Jerry: Well, Ursula, come on. Don't you agree that the roots of contemporary neo-Leftism simply have to be sought in Enlightenment political philosophy?

Ursula: History is the discourse of powerful centrally located voices marginalizing and describing the sub-altern!

Todd: See what I have to put up with? Do you know what it's like living with someone who sees sex as a metaphoric demonstration of the anti-feminist violence implicit in the discourse of the dominant power structure? It's terrible. She just lies there and thinks of Andrea Dworkin. That's why we never do it any more.

Crowd: Wooooo!

Ursula: You liar! Why don't you tell them how you haven't been able to get it up for the past three months because you couldn't decide if your penis truly had essential Being, or was simply a manifestation of Mind?

Todd: Wait a minute! Wait a minute!

Ursula: It's true!

Jerry: Well, I don't think we're going to solve this one right away. Our next guests are Louis and Tina. And Tina has a little confession to make!

Louis and Tina come on stage.

Todd and Ursula continue bickering in the background.

Jerry: Tina, you are... (reads cards) ... an existentialist, is that right?

Tina: That's right, Jerry. And Louis is, too.

Jerry: And what did you want to tell Louis today?

Tina: Jerry, today I want to tell him...

Jerry: Talk to Louis. Talk to him. Crowd hushes.

Tina: Louis... I've loved you for a long time...

Louis: I love you, too, Tina.

Tina: Louis, you know I agree with you that existence precedes essence, but...well, I just want to tell you I've been reading Nietzsche lately, and I don't think I can agree with your egalitarian politics any more.

Crowd: Wooooo! Woooooo!

Louis: (shocked and disbelieving) Tina, this is crazy. You know that Sartre clarified all this way back in the 40's.

Tina: But he didn't take into account Nietzsche's radical critique of democratic morality, Louis. I'm sorry. I can't ignore the contradiction any longer!

Louis: You got these ideas from Victor, didn't you? Didn't you?

Tina: Don't you bring up Victor! I only turned to him when I saw you were seeing that dominatrix! I needed a real man! An Uber-man!

Louis: (sobbing) I couldn't help it. It was my burden of freedom. It was too much!

Jerry: We've got someone here who might have something to add. Bring out...Victor!

Victor enters. He walks up to Louis and sticks a finger in his face.

Victor: Louis, you're a classic post-Christian intellectual. Weak to the core!

Louis: (through tears) You can kiss my Marxist ass, Reactionary Boy!

Victor: Herd animal!

Louis: Lackey!

Louis throws a chair at Victor; they lock horns and wrestle. The crowd goes wild. After a long struggle, the security guys pry them apart.

Jerry: Okay, okay. It's time for questions from the audience. Go ahead, sir.

Audience member: Okay, this is for Tina. Tina, I just wanna know how you can call yourself an existentialist, and still agree with Nietzsche's doctrine of the Ubermensch. Doesn't that imply a belief in intrinsic essences that is in direct contradiction with the fundamental principles of existentialism?

Tina: No! No! It doesn't. We can be equal in potential, without being equal in eventual personal quality. It's a question of Becoming, not Being.

Audience member: That's just disguised essentialism! You're no existentialist!

Tina: I am so!

Audience member: You're no existentialist!

Tina: I am so an existentialist, bitch!

Ursula stands and interjects.

Ursula: What does it [bleep] matter? Existentialism is just a cover for late capitalist anti-feminism! Look at how Sartre treated Simone de Beauvoir!

Women in the crowd cheer and stomp.

Tina: [Bleep] you! Fat-ass Foucaultian ho!

Ursula: You only wish you were smart enough to understand Foucault, bitch!

Tina: You the bitch!

Ursula: No, you the bitch!

Tina: Whatever! Whatever!

Jerry: We'll be right back with a final thought! Stay with us!

Commercial break for debt-consolidation loans, ITT Technical Institute, and Psychic Alliance Hotline.

Jerry: Hi! Welcome back. I just want to thank all our guests for being here, and say that I hope you're able to work through your differences and find happiness, if indeed happiness can be extracted from the dismal miasma of warring primal hormonal impulses we call human relationship. (turns to the camera) Well, we all think philosophy is just fun and games. Semiotics, deconstruction, Lacanian post-Freudian psychoanalysis, it all seems like good, clean fun. But when the heart gets involved, all our painfully acquired metaphysical insights go right out the window, and we're reduced to battling it out like rutting chimpanzees. It's not pretty. If you're in a relationship, and differences over the fundamental principles of your respective subjectivities are making things difficult, maybe it's time to move on. Find someone new, someone who will accept you and the way your laughably limited human intelligence chooses to codify and rationalize the chaos of existence. After all, in the absence of a clear, unquestionable revelation from God, that's all we're all doing anyway. So remember: take care of yourselves -- and each other.

Announcer: Be sure to tune in next time, when KKK strippers battle it out with transvestite omnisexual porn stars! Tomorrow on Springer!

Check Out These Authors!

I've had some buddies donate their time and even books to the writers' class that is taking place this month. Aren't these awesome covers?

The Torrid Tarot is a series that Ellora's Cave is running this year. I thought Charlene's book cover was one of the best I'd seen, Tarot line or not!

This one is a Fallen Angels Review Recommended Read!

Workaholic Elaine Llewellyn’s enforced vacation leaves her at far too loose an end for her peace of mind. With all that time on her hands, memories and longings she’s been repressing threaten to break free. Her solution? Distract herself by playing tourist on a just-busy-enough road trip through Maine.

A storm and a blocked road send her to an unscheduled stop at Damon Thorne’s private retreat. Instead of the B&B she’s expecting, the man who’s world famous for his surreal paintings of psychic visions has been expecting her and all of her careful plans are washed away with the rain.

Trapped in the house while the storm rages outside, Damon sets out to break through Elaine’s barriers, physical, mental and emotional. When the storm ends, she’ll have to make a choice: go back to the life of denial she’s been living, or come to terms with her own psychic gifts, her passionate nature, and the second chance at love she’s been offered.

Here is the publisher’s website info and where you can purchase the book.

To learn more, visit her on the web at http://www.charleneteglia.com/. Then visit Amazon.com and check out her recent publication, Wild, Wild West. Is that a HOT cover or WHAT?!

Next up is Jordanna Kay!

a note from the author:

By day, I kill aphids and watch toads mate in my garden. By night, I write sensual paranormal or historical fiction. My ever-present Muse, Gerry Butler, keeps my blood warm and my fingers tapping. Even three kids and a “regular” job can’t hold me back from my obsessions.

blurb of TABOO:

When two strangers meet by chance, their shared ecstasy challenges cultural differences and changes the course of their future.

Two societies have lived apart on a remote planet for generations. At the top of the Dwelling live the Aerotaun, people who have built wings to help them fly. The bottom is occupied by the Marimar, hearty swimmers who live and feed by the sea. Because of the mystery surrounding their ancestors’ landing, suspicions and distrust thrive between the cultures.

Until a taboo encounter occurs on an isolated beach.

Ariana, an Aerotaun, cannot resist the seductive allure of the forbidden Andreus. Their few days alone ignite sexual exploration and uninhibited ecstasy. But when Ariana finally learns the shocking secret about their purpose on the planet, she must decide if her heart belongs with her people or the sexy Marimar.

You can visit Jordanna here: http://www.jordannakay.com/. And here’s where you can purchase the book!

Other author pals who are helping out this week are Tori Scott , Merry Stahel , and Misty Wright. THANKS, LADIES!!!!

Hey Tanya. Not sure how anyone cannot find Gerry a muse - especially while writing love scenes! LOL! I'm a wee bit obsessed with the Scotsman myself! ;-)

Thanks for visiting, everyone.

It's good to be back, Lynn and I've missed reading your blog too. :-)

Lesley, I know what you mean. Gerry could inspire a corpse. The man is just ... hell, there aren't enough words in the English language to describe him.

On second thought, I can think of about 300!

What's Cooking This Week

The Heart of Dixie Romance Writers of America is sponsoring a writers' workshop, and this is the logo they've created for me. I say ME because they've asked me to instruct their class again. I'd like to personally thank moderator Misty Wright at this time for her energetic and enthusiastic contributions as moderator of this group. I'd like to thank Marilyn Puett, her tireless cohort, who set up the Yahoo group and helped get things started. Here's the information to join, should you be interested:

TOP CHEFS: Cooking Up Confessions & Romance

A writers’ workshop by Sunny Cole

August 6 – 27, 2007

Misty's first book debuted recently! So here's a big SHOUT OUT to her! Congratulations, Misty! The title of her book is His Secret Bride - OUT NOW from http://www.twilightfantasies.com/
http://www.mistywright.com/

Marilyn just sold her 14th and 15th confessions last week. You read that correctly - the woman has been BUSY!

My dear friend Alexis Fleming has been in the hospital for about 3 weeks now - if she's able to log online, here's a special hello to her! GET WELL, MISSY - don't make me fly down there!

#1 Son celebrated his birthday over the weekend. We went shopping (well, Dear Daughter-in-law 2 Be and I did - doesn't she look cute?!) - We later celebrated with dinner at TGIF and shared a huge caramel sundae at the end of the meal.

I don't even want to THINK about the calories we got from that sundae.

My friend Heather Rae Scott has a new book out that is hysterically funny - Mrs. Giggles herself gave the book HIGH, HIGH marks! I don't know whether to be happy or jealous. Heather is running a contest right now - visit her blog and you could win a copy of this fabulous book in ebook form if you hurry!

Here’s the link to purchase a copy!

“The Last Thing I Wanted” by Heather Rae Scott
Genre:
ISBN: 1-59998-084-3Length: NovelPrice: 5.50Publication Date: July 17, 2007Cover art by Scott Carpenter

To entice you, I'll leave you with this thought regarding Heather's new book. The couple winds up winning a contest - think of the old "The Dating Game", only it's updated and funnier. Now picture them boarding the plane, only to discover that it's for NUDISTS, and they don't realize this until they're already airborne!!!!!!

And with that thought...I need to get back to sleep if I can. Had a touch of insomnia and thought while I was up that I'd delete the temporary internet files, update my blog (SORRY that it's been so long in between posts), and let everyone know what's going on in my corner of the universe.

Have a great week, everybody! Till next time...

~ Sunny Lyn
